The Beacon Sloop Club Annual Strawberry Festival will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Pete and Toshi Seeger Riverfront Park from 12-5 pm.
This favorite local event is free to the public and features two music stages, strawberry shortcake and other treats, educational displays and children's activities, and dozens of food and craft vendors.
Riverfront Park in Beacon is one of the most beautiful public spaces on the Hudson River. Festival visitors will find a wide range of activities right at the water's edge. At the center of the festival is the Strawberry Tent, where fresh made strawberry shortcakes, as well as strawberry smoothies and chocolate-covered strawberries are available for purchase. Along the perimeter of the picnic grounds dozens of craft vendors sell handmade goods and food vendors offer a variety of lunch options. Along with many free children's activities there is an environmental education tent with displays and speakers on subjects concerning the Hudson River, pollution, and other environmental issues. There will also be booths from local civic groups, churches, and non-profit organizations. Sponsors of the 2017 Strawberry Festival include WDST Radio Woodstock and Horizon Family Medical Group.
Two solar-powered music stages offer live music performances throughout the day. On the main music stage performers will include Breakneck Ridge Revue, Cosby Gibson, Dan Einbender, Driscoll & Smith, Earthtones, Jim Connor, The Dirty Stay Out Skifflers, and the Trouble Sisters. The Children's Stage will feature Bindlestick Bill, Funkinships, G Rockwell & the Still River Ramblers, Lydia Adams Davis & Giada Remedios Amador, S.L.A.M, Susan Wright & Friends, and Solar Sound.
As festival goers enjoy the scenic setting of Riverfront Park on the Hudson River's shores, those who are interested in experiencing the River first hand will be able to sail on the schooner Mystic Whaler. The Mystic Whaler visits the Hudson River every spring and is scheduled to give public deck tours and a public paid sail at the festival.
The Strawberry Festival is one of three annual festivals put on by the Beacon Sloop Club, which was founded in 1969 as a local affiliate of Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. It is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of the Hudson River and strengthening the connections between the public and the river, and is entirely run by volunteers. Those interested in volunteering at the festivals and joining the organization can learn more at the membership tent at the festival.
